Universal Studios Hollywood announced today a permanent “walk-through” attraction based on AMC’s hit series “The Walking Dead.”The attraction is set to open this coming summer and will be a collaboration between the TV series’ creative team, with executive producer and special effects wizard Greg Nicotero helping to construct the attraction’s zombies.
The zombies will be a combination of animatronic and real people and will encompass a “Walking Dead” set with props seen on the show.
The new attraction is an extension of “Halloween Horror Nights,” a seasonal variation that Universal Studios Hollywood and AMC have done over the last few years that involves horror mazes and live stage shows based on pop culture phenomena like “The Walking Dead,” “The Purge,” and the “Halloween” series.
The Universal Studios partnership is the second high-profile one in the past month. The show teamed up with Hallmark for the launch of the last half of Season 6 on Feb. 14 with zombie-themed Valentine’s Day cards.
